WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — With hurricane season here and the switch from analog to digital transmission completed, demand for digital portable televisions is huge.

The analog battery-operated TVs many people have will no longer work without a converter box/battery pack combination, and some are not compatible with that.

Although some Radio Shack stores contacted recently have them in stock, most stores — from CVS to Target to JCPenney — reported being sold out of the tiny digital TVs sold with rechargeable batteries and seven-inch screens.

For availability, check Web sites such as www.bestbuy.com, www.amazon.com, www.walmart.com, www. bundlecity.com and www.radioshack.com. All had portable digital TVs starting at $99 available.Others, such as www.target.com, were out of the TVs, but will send an e-mail notification when they become available.
