ATLANTA — Coca-Cola Co. said Thursday it will outsource the company's data center to Hewlett-Packard, a move that's expected to affect about 90 people in Atlanta.
Coca-Cola and Hewlett-Packard are discussing how to handle the transition, said Coca-Cola spokesman Dana Bolden. Details should be determined by the end of the month, he said.
A significant portion of the Coca-Cola employees are expected to be offered jobs at Hewlett-Packard, Bolden said. Employees who don't receive a job will be given a severance package, he said.
The outsourcing of the data center is part of a broader move by Coca-Cola to improve productivity across the company. Earlier this year, the Atlanta-based beverage firm announced it was combining global information technology functions into a new Global Business and Technology Services unit.
